Kalashnikov ISTU - Contribution to Arms Development: Training, Science, Weapons Development

Abstract


The book includes publications prepared by employees of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University, journalists, scientists, gunsmith veterans who have created hundreds of small arms known throughout the world, as well as young gunsmiths - graduate students of the department of small arms.

The first chapter describes the development strategy of Kalashnikov ISTU and the training of personnel for the defense industry at the university, shows the role of defense science in the development of education and high-tech production.

The second chapter contains the main publications of the university newspaper “Mechanic” dedicated to the legendary weapons designer M. T. Kalashnikov; photos of the great designer with gunsmiths from Izhevsk arms factories - graduates of the department “Small arms”, recollections of veteran gunsmiths about Mikhail Timofeevich.

The third and other chapters are devoted to the history of the department “Small Arms” of Kalashnikov  Izhevsk State Technical University, its scientific and design results; it also included creative notes by the creators of Izhevsk weapons.

The volume of the book is 1060 pages, it includes more than 1000 photographs and is intended for students, graduate students, engineers and scientists, and will also be interesting to museum workers and the general public.
