Analysis of Publication Activity and Editorial Policy of the Journal “Bulletin of Kalashnikov ISTU”

Abstract


The analysis of the publication activity of the journal as of 2019 was carried out. Since January 2019, the journal “Bulletin of Kalashnikov ISTU” has been reorganized and has 3 sections on technical sciences: “Mechanical engineering and machine science”, “Radio engineering and communications”, “Energy systems and complexes”. Since that time, the journal has published 9–12 manuscripts per issue, the average size of which is 16 pages. The editorial board includes 14 foreign members and 14 scientists from other regions of the Russian Federation. The citation rate of the members of the editorial board has significantly increased, in particular, the Hirsch index of the members of the editorial board for Scopus and Web of Science averaged 7. To improve the quality of manuscripts, blind reviewing by two reviewers is carried out, reviews are posted on the E-library portal; the number of rejected manuscripts with low scientific significance increased up to 20 %. The website of the journal and information about the journal in the RSCI have been updated. The component of the manuscripts is strengthened with the help of additional parallel headings and captions in English: the title of the manuscript, authors, abstract, bibliographic references, as well as captions and table titles. Requirements for the information content of annotations and conclusions, as well as requirements for bibliography have been increased: at least 15 references to journal manuscripts published in the last 3-5 years, including foreign ones. Until 2019, manuscripts by authors from other regions accounted for only 10-15 %, in 2019-2020. The number of such manuscripts increased to 50 %. The publication activity of the journal in 2019 compared to 2017 for most indicators increased significantly: the two-year impact factor of the RSCI increased almost 3-fold, and the two-year impact factor for the RSCI core increased 3 fold.
