Abstract

The variation of the logarithmic decrement of a thin isotropic plate is investigated depending on the mode of vibration. A plate with a central hole, rigidly clamped along the inner contour, is considered. The shape of oscillations with nodal diameters is accepted. In order to determine the logarithmic decrement of the design unit, the mean stress method is applied. Diagrams of logarithmic decrement variation are plotted. It is established that the damping properties of the plate are reduced by increasing the order of vibration modes.
