Abstract

The article describes the stages of contour image compression and efficient masked image encoding for its further compression. The experiment is carried out aimed at determining the most effective standard for contour image (mask) compression. It can be stated that standard JBIG proved to be the best among the standards oriented on compression of binary images. This standard also was the best among all universal compression standards. The proposed method of contour compression is the most effective for low-frequency images (with large areas of small changes in tone).
