The Impact of Notches of Rods on Stress Intensity Factors of Circular Cracks

Abstract

The paper presents an engineering method for calculating the stress intensity factors (SIF) for circular cracks under tension, bending or torsion of cylindrical rods with circular notches. Examples of applying this method are shown. Estimation of SIF divergences obtained by the proposed and finite element methods is carried out in order to substantiate the expediency of application of the proposed method.
